Campaign Brief: Citysearch Mobile created
Cityseries, a specialized iPad app that utilized the device technology, and
launched on April 3, 2010 with the iPad release. The new app was a complete
departure from existing Citysearch mobile experiences and immersed the user in
the world of Citysearch through an innovative magazine-like experience which
incorporated deals and offers. The objective of the project was to have iPad
users view local happenings, such as reviews and listings, as content and not simply
utility. The Cityseries magazine is continually updated as new content on the
site is produced, so the secondary objective was to drive engagement and
encourage readers to come back repeatedly.
Cityseries was available from the iTunes store immediately and was one of the
few apps designed to work specifically with the revolutionary iPad layout. The
app received a great deal of attention and praise from Apple, and was featured
in the iTunes store spotlight section for 2 weeks, averaging 2,000 downloads a
day.
